Alma Arkansas, is located in the beautiful foothills of the Ozark Mountains, along the Arkansas river with interstate 40 and 540 crossing the city limits. ATTRACTIONS

ALMA AQUATIC PARK - Open Memorial Day - Labor Day. Slides, diving boards, a large swimming area, covered wading pool, water play area and walking trail. Adjacent park has a picnic area and a fire truck play station for young children.

ALMA PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - (479) 632-2120; www.almapac.org. Brings Art's Alive to the Alma area by booking top name artists and performances. The center is available to organizations by reservations; call or log on our web site.

EAGLE CREST GOLF COURSE - 3926 Golf Course Dr.; (479) 632-8857; www.golfeaglecrest.com. Eagle Crest is an 18-hole, daily fee course with an excellent driving range as well.

FESTIVALS

MID-APRIL: Annual Spinach Festival. Celebration of Alma's spinach history and Spinach Capital of the World name. Arts and crafts booths, food vendors, book sale at the public library, car show, entertainment, baseball tournament and a gala dinner and talent contest.

JULY 3: Daylong celebration free to the public includes live music, children's activities, discounted swimming at the Aquatic Park until midnight, food and nighttime fireworks display.

EARLY AUGUST: BARGAINS GALORE ON 64. Vendors in abundance for this 130-mile-long yard sale along Hwy. 64. Alma, Fort Smith, and Ozark.

DECEMBER: Christmas In The Park. Drive-through Christmas lighting scenes featuring thousands of lights. Open first Saturday in December through Dec. 23.
