ATTRACTIONS

COAL MINERS MEMORIAL - Recognizes those who worked in area coal mines. Mining was lifeblood of the south Sebastian County economy.

GREENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - 515 Gary St.; (479) 996-4142. Greenwood School System boasts an auditorium that will seat 1,303 people. Also available for use by the community to bring talent and cultural events to the area.

OLD JAIL MUSEUM - Southside of Square. Occupied in April 1891, the Sebastian County Quorum Court had the two-story solid rock building constructed as a "holding jail" for drunks and rabble rousers. May 1 through October 1, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., Thursday - Saturday. Special tours may be arranged through the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.

VINEYARD CABIN - Located near the Old Jail Museum. The circa 1848 cabin was built by a bachelor school teacher and used as a residence and school until his marriage in 1850 when another room was added with a breezeway.

FESTIVALS

MID-MAY: Annual Arkansas Heritage Historic Tour in historic district. Walk-through tours of the Old Jail Museum complex, Jail Museum, Log Cabin, Pioneer School House, Governor John Sebastian Little Monument and Coal Miner's Memorial.

JULY 4TH: Freedomfest is a daylong celebration of Independence Day, which includes a popular Freedomfest 5K Run, carnival rides for the kids and fireworks that evening.
